چکیده
Abstract Lateral roots (LRs) dominate the overall root surface of adult plants and are crucial for soil exploration nutrient acquisition. When grown under mild nitrogen (N) deficiency, flowering develop longer LRs to enhance This response is partly mediated by brassinosteroids (BR) yet unknown mechanisms. Here, we show that local auxin biosynthesis modulates LR elongation while allelic coding variants YUCCA8 determine extent N deficiency. By up-regulating expression YUCCA8/3/5/7 Tryptophan Aminotransferase Arabidopsis 1 ( TAA1 ) deficiency accumulation increases in tips. We further demonstrate N-dependent acts epistatic downstream a canonical BR signaling cascade. The uncovered BR-auxin hormonal module its emphasize importance fine-tuning crosstalk boost adaptive responses availability offer path improve expanded systems plants.

Auxin acts as a local morphogenetic trigger to specify lateral root founder cells.
Plants exhibit an exceptional adaptability to different environmental conditions. To a large extent, this adaptability depends on their ability to initiate and form new organs throughout their entire postembryonic life. Plant shoot and root systems unceasingly branch and form axillary shoots or lateral roots, respectively. The first event in the formation of a new organ is specification of foun...
متن کاملNitric oxide acts downstream of auxin to trigger root ferric-chelate reductase activity in response to iron deficiency in Arabidopsis.
In response to iron (Fe) deficiency, dicots employ a reduction-based mechanism by inducing ferric-chelate reductase (FCR) at the root plasma membrane to enhance Fe uptake. However, the signal pathway leading to FCR induction is still unclear. Here, we found that the Fe-deficiency-induced increase of auxin and nitric oxide (NO) levels in wild-type Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) was accompani...
متن کاملBrassinosteroids interact with auxin to promote lateral root development in Arabidopsis.
Plant hormone brassinosteroids (BRs) and auxin exert some similar physiological effects likely through their functional interaction, but the mechanism for this interaction is unknown. In this study, we show that BRs are required for lateral root development in Arabidopsis and that BRs act synergistically with auxin to promte lateral root formation. BR perception is required for the transgenic e...
متن کاملStrigolactone acts downstream of auxin to regulate bud outgrowth in pea and Arabidopsis.
During the last century, two key hypotheses have been proposed to explain apical dominance in plants: auxin promotes the production of a second messenger that moves up into buds to repress their outgrowth, and auxin saturation in the stem inhibits auxin transport from buds, thereby inhibiting bud outgrowth. The recent discovery of strigolactone as the novel shoot-branching inhibitor allowed us ...
